7028   F7 by MTL / Kadee, lighting socket, white

The delivery comprises a board for a running direction detecting lighting of the F7-unit by the American manufacturer MTL / Kadee. The light shines through both holes in forward direction. The two acrylic lighting elements are important parts of the remodeling kit, since the manufacturer does not offer any locomotives with this kind of lighting elements already built in.
The great thing about our product are the two small guides on the electronic board that can be screwed in with the undercarriage screws, guaranteeing a reliable fixing and current collection. The color of the light resembles the natural white of an LED. There is not even a bit of any bluish cast. Aditionally we have applied some of our gradation laquer, which gives the LEDs a slightly yellowish cast, making the color of the light very similar to the original, as can be seen on the photos. For a successful operation of the component it is important that the locomotive and its original lighting have been working correctly before. The components are suitable for analog running and track voltages up to 10 volt. Please note that higher voltages can instantly destroy the LEDs and parts of the electronics!

The remodeling kit includes the receptacle with the two current collectors soldered on the side, a small white tube that serves as a body screw connection or screw thread for the two lateral screws inside the locomotive. The original lamp has such a small tube made of black plastic fixed to it. But since now the original lamp will not be there anymore, the small piece of tube for the screws will not be either. A very special thing are the two acrylic light conductor elements we produce ourselves. Unfortunately, ex factory the models are not equipped with these important light conductors. The lamp and its shine can hardly be seen, and also the light of our LED-element barely shines through the hollow holes. With the two light conductor elements this changes at once. Insert the longer one above, and the smaller one below, it might be necessary to fix them further with some superglue from inside.
Altogether, this is one of the most difficult remodelings we offer. Unfortunately, it is not just taking out the lamp and inserting a receptacle. The component has to be screwed together. The screw threads inside change as well, making the screwing difficult, since the new small white tube always turns along. Building in the small light conduction elements is especially difficult. They easily fall from the tweezers and disappear.

For this reason, we offer to do a competent remodeling, building in the lighting elements and other necessary parts (art. 7099), if the locomotive is sent to us through your local dealer. There won't be any changes on the model, we even send back the dismantled lamp socket to our clients. Other parts of the model are not affected by the remodeling.
